On 25 April 1927, after a remarkably short construction time north of the town of Schkeuditz, roughly halfway between Leipzig and Halle, a state-of-the-art airport went into operation.
Since then, Leipzig/Halle Airport has become one of the most sustainable drivers of employment and growth in the region. More than 7,884 people are currently employed at the site.
Besides the large operators such as Thomas Cook, TUI, DER Touristik, FTI, alltours and Schauinsland-Reisen, the region's medium-sized tour operators such as Polster & Pohl, LMX-Touristik and Eberhardt Travel are also expanding their services.
