Community engagement

Our concept for successful cooperation

Leipzig/Halle Airport plays a significant role for the economy in central Germany. The 131 companies on site currently employ around 6,230 members of staff. Well-known companies such as BMW, Porsche, Amazon, Future Electronics, Dow Chemical and Dell have established offices near the airport. As a responsible neighbour, we maintain partnerships with the cities and communities in the vicinity of the airport. Our community engagement includes making contributions to cultural and sports diversity for local citizens as well as supporting social projects.

Promoting the region through sponsorship

As part of its community engagement activities, Leipzig/Halle Airport supports clubs and facilities within a night-time protected area spanning 256 km² which actively carries out projects primarily with children and adolescents. This especially includes day care centres, schools, not-for-profit associations and youth clubs. We place our focus on education, besides promoting sports and culture, in order to support future-oriented projects. Here we aspire after a partnership shaped by openness and commitment to the citizens living in the vicinity of the airport.

Integration into airport events

We believe that a good neighbourhood is built on cooperation. We therefore place great emphasis on involving local clubs and facilities in airport events. We are delighted to be able to involve carnival associations, school bands and music groups, dance troupes and sports clubs in the airport events programme, thus giving visibility to such clubs and groups while presenting our community's cultural and sports diversity to the general public.

Working with the local community

The ongoing cooperation with the cities, communities, mayors and council representatives forms an additional focal point of our community engagement. Thanks to a regular exchange, also by means of information events held at the airport, we are always open to discuss the concerns of our neighbours.
